Michael Czapka, MD, is an infectious disease doctor who specializes in treating and preventing infections in immunocompromised adults. Dr. Czapka provides care for people before and after organ transplants, chemotherapy, stem cell transplants and CAR T-cell therapy, with particular expertise managing fungal and viral infections.
Along with his dedication to his patients, Dr. Czapka is actively involved in clinical trials for new drugs and vaccines targeted to difficult-to-treat infections, including fungi, viruses and mycobacteria. He also studies infections in CAR T-cell recipients and leads quality improvement initiatives to improve the care that patients receive. His work has been published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine and Transplant Infectious Disease and has been presented at medical conferences such as IDWeek. Additionally, Dr. Czapka serves on the institutional ethics review board for clinical research.
