Mark K. Abe, MD is a pediatric sedation and critical care specialist. Dr. Abe has expertise in sedating children for a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. He also treats critically ill children and teens with lung disease and respiratory failure.
Dr. Abe is investigating ways to improve diagnosis and treatment for his patients through implementation of evidence-based, data-driven improvements on clinical practice. His early research interests involved lung cell biology and lung development. Dr. Abe has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, such as the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology, the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine and Development Biology.
In addition to his clinical and research pursuits, Dr. Abe is also committed to education. He is a course instructor, delivers lectures and participates in rounds to teach medical students, residents and fellows about current pediatric critical care topics and state-of-the-art therapies.
