Andrew Rausch, MD, specializes in maternal-fetal medicine, and treats women with high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Rausch cares for patients with pre-existing medical conditions, such as hypertension and cancer, as well as pregnancy specific problems like gestational diabetes or pre-eclampsia. He also provides fetal ultrasound in order to screen and diagnose problems that can arise during pregnancy, including birth defects, growth restriction and placental issues.

Dr. Rausch delivers comprehensive care to his patients, which encompasses everything from consultations before pregnancy and amniocentesis for prenatal diagnosis to prenatal care throughout pregnancy and delivering babies at our Family Birth Center.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rausch is also committed to ongoing research and is devoted to improving outcomes and quality of life for his patients. His work has been presented and published in peer-reviewed journals, including Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Journal of Maternal-Fetal and Neonatal Medicine and American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology MFM. Dr. Rausch’s upcoming research focuses on the application of technology to medical care, particularly machine learning in ultrasound and obstetrics, and how it can be used to detect and predict medical problems.

Throughout his career, Dr. Rausch has seen the importance of mentorship in medical education, so he has been involved in teaching since residency, and received multiple resident and medical student teaching awards. At the University of Chicago, he continues teaching the next generation of medical students, residents and fellows about obstetrics, advanced ultrasound and high-risk prenatal care.
