Breakthrough Treatment for Enlarged Prostate Is Here

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), or an enlarged prostate, is a common condition that affects men over the age of 50 and can impact quality of life. At UChicago Medicine our urologists provide the most advanced, innovative, and comprehensive treatment options — including Aquablation® therapy — to help you find relief safely and effectively.

What is Aquablation® Therapy?

UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial is one of the first in the area to offer Aquablation® therapy — a minimally invasive surgical treatment that uses the power of water, delivered with robotic precision, to remove prostate tissue and provide lasting relief from BPH symptoms. It’s precise, consistent, and effective — regardless of prostate size.

Benefits of Aquablation® Therapy

Traditional BPH treatments often mean compromise — not responding well to medications, limited relief, sexual side effects, or long recovery times. Aquablation® offers all of the following:

  • Minimally invasive approach with no external incisions
  • Long-lasting symptom relief
  • Reduced risk of certain side effects compared to some traditional procedures
  • Shorter recovery time

Is Aquablation® Right for You?

You may benefit from evaluation if you are experiencing:

  • Frequent or urgent need to urinate
  • Weak urine stream
  • Difficulty starting urination
  • Waking up multiple times at night to urinate

A comprehensive consultation with a UChicago Medicine urology specialist will help determine the most appropriate treatment for your needs.
