UChicago Medicine General and Vascular Surgery performs surgeries for a wide range of common ailments requiring surgical intervention after which the patient has to spend one or several nights in the hospital, where they will receive permanent postoperative care, and their recovery will be carefully monitored.

Ambulatory Inpatient Surgical Services:

  • Robotics - Cholecystectomy, inguinal hernias, ventral/Incisional hernias, sigmoid colectomy, colostomy/Ileostomy reversals, hiatal hernia with nissen fundoplication
  • Breast - Saviscout localizations, excision of breast cysts/papilloma/lesions, partial mastectomy, simple/Modified radical mastectomy
  • Vascular - AV fistula/graft creation, peritoneal dialysis catheter placement/removals, carotid endarterectomy, femoral popliteal bypass, femoral tibial bypass
  • Colorectal Disorders - Diverticular disease, colorectal cancer
  • Anorectal Disease - Hemorrhoids and fissures, perirectal fistula/abscess, transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization with mucopexy (THD)
  • Additional Services - Benign and malignant skin disorders, abscesses, lipomas, sebaceous cysts, pilonidal cysts, cleft lift pilonidal cystectomy/abscess
