Leading Research and Clinical Trials for Interventional Cardiology

UChicago Medicine’s cardiac catheterization laboratory and interventional cardiology group is committed to providing superb evidence-based care in additional to advancing the science of cardiovascular medicine. We have been involved in leading-edge, investigational technologies and groundbreaking new approaches to treating patients with complex cardiovascular conditions for over 20 years. Some of the clinical trials and registries we are currently involved in are highlighted below:

  • Cardiogenic Shock Working Group (CSWG) – Prospective data collection on the treatment course and clinical outcomes in patients hospitalized with cardiogenic shock. Actively enrolling patients.
  • FlowLab – Prospective data collection on the Use and Variability of the CoroFlow System for the Evaluation of Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction. Actively enrolling patients.
  • RESPONDER HF – Multicenter, Prospective, Randomized, Sham Controlled, Double Blinded Clinical Trial evaluating the Corvia Atrial Shunt System versus sham for patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Actively enrolling patients.
  • CORCINCH-HF – Prospective, randomized, open-label, multicenter, international, clinical safety and efficacy investigation of the AccuCinch Ventricular Restoration System for reduction in left ventricular volume in patients with heart failure. Actively enrolling patients.
  • SPYRAL AFFIRM – Prospective device trial evaluating the impact of catheter-based radiofrequency renal denervation on blood pressure in patients with resistant hypertension. Enrollment to start Spring 2023
  • PE-TRACT – Randomized controlled trial of catheter directed therapy (mechanical thrombectomy or intrathrombus catheter-directed thrombolysis) vs. standard anticoagulation in patients with acute pulmonary embolism and right ventricular dysfunction. Enrollment to start Spring 2023.
  • DISCOVER INOCA – Multi-center registry to identify specific phenotypes of ischemia with non-obstructive coronary arteries with both an anatomic evaluation (coronary angiography and intravascular imaging) and physiologic assessment with the Abbott Coroventis Coroflow Cardiovascular System, and to determine long-term outcomes. Enrollment to start Spring 2023.
Because our physicians and researchers are actively leading clinical trials for new and better treatments, we are transforming basic research into bedside care so we can offer our patients the benefits of novel therapies before they are widely available.
