Understanding IgG4-Related Disease (IgG4-RD)

IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a rare but serious inflammatory condition that can affect nearly every organ system in the body, including the pancreas, bile ducts, lungs, kidneys, and multiple glands. It can be challenging to diagnose and, if left untreated, can result in progressive and irreversible organ damage. There is also a major need to identify new treatments that can effectively treat this condition.

Currently there are few centers of expertise in IgG4-RD in the country. University of Chicago is at the forefront of medicine as the sole clinical consortium for IgG4-RD in the Midwest. Our clinical consortium comprises experts from multiple specialties who are committed to providing accurate diagnoses, developing comprehensive treatment plans, and streamlining patients’ medical care for this disease.
