University of Chicago Medical Center receives Hospital of Choice Award

The American Alliance of Healthcare Providers (AAHP) has named the University of Chicago Medical Center as one of the top 102 hospitals in the country in their 2007 Hospital of Choice Awards, announced August 31, 2007.
This award recognizes America's "most customer-friendly hospitals," according to Ric Vincent Parr, President of AAHP. It celebrates "those hospitals that go beyond their walls in pursuit of excellence and quality care," according to a press release from the Alliance.
These hospitals have developed "a collaborative relationship with physicians and healthcare organizations in the community, as well as managed care organizations and other payors, according to the release. "In short, we are seeking hospitals that care about all their customers."
Only four Illinois hospitals made the list, which includes, in this order:
- University of Chicago Medical Center, Chicago, IL
- Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL
- Swedish Covenant Hospital, Chicago, IL
- Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, IL
