A Tradition of Radiology Excellence

University of Chicago Medicine radiologists have a long-standing commitment to excellence in clinical medicine, research and teaching.

Devices that are now fundamental to the practice of radiology were developed and first built in our department's machine shops. Technetium-99m — a cornerstone of contemporary nuclear medicine — was first introduced by our faculty.

UChicago Medicine physicians and researchers published papers that revolutionized gastrointestinal radiology and the examination of the inner ear. Their work also introduced transbronchial biopsy. Today, our team continues this tradition of advancing the field of radiology.
