As you await the arrival of your newest family member, a childbirth class is a great way to prepare for labor, birth and infant care.

At the University of Chicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial, our highly trained nurses offer a full array of classes designed to help you and your loved ones prepare to welcome the newest addition to your family.

Our Classes

Although breastfeeding may be considered the "natural way" to feed your baby, there is still much to learn to foster a successful nursing relationship. The program covers several topics including:

  • Advantages of breastfeeding
  • Breastfeeding at home
  • The working mom and beyond

This is a single, two-hour class taught by our infant feeding support nurse. Fathers-to-be are encouraged to attend. The nurse provides follow-up on an individual basis after your baby is born.
