Comprehensive Testing for Men
At the Men’s Wellness Clinic, we believe that information is power. That is why we make advanced testing available to you so you can be better informed about your health risks and make choices that help you stay as healthy as possible.
We start by conducting a thorough evaluation of your health. Beyond the standard blood tests and physical examination, we offer genetic testing including molecular biomarkers to assess your risk for heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.
We also offer a variety of advanced imaging tests that go beyond traditional stress tests to help us get a better view your heart and vascular health. This testing can uncover “hidden” conditions that may not cause symptoms but can be serious, such as coronary artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysms and peripheral artery disease.
These screenings allow our experts to make evidence-based recommendations to help you reduce your health risks.
Men who come to see us are motivated to make changes. Often, they want to reduce their risks based on their family history. Or they may have had a recent health scare and want to do everything they can to reduce their future risks. Whatever the motivation, we are here to help.
Diet, weight loss, exercise and not smoking are some of the steps you can take to protect against cardiovascular disease. But we recognize that making these lifestyle changes is not easy. That is why we offer a team-based approach to care. In addition to heart and vascular experts, the team at the Men’s Wellness Clinic includes an endocrinologist who can help prevent and manage diabetes and a dietitian who specializes in helping men with weight loss.
Sexual Health Services
Our primary care physicians can help you with sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and HIV prevention. We are also experienced in caring for LGBTQ+ patients and committed to providing primary care services in an inclusive, welcoming environment.
We can also help to diagnose and treat sexual health related issues like low libido, erectile dysfunction and low testosterone.
We routinely collaborate with urology and can refer you to a urologist who specializes in advanced treatments for issues such as erectile dysfunction (ED), Peyronie’s disease and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Frequently Asked Questions
Some men don’t realize it, but having a primary care physician (PCP) that you trust is one of the best ways that you can stay in good health. Your PCP can provide many of the tools you need to maintain your vitality, including immunizations, screenings and other preventive care services. Your PCP can also help you if you have a sudden injury or urgent care need and require treatment. If this happens, you’ll be better prepared if you have an established relationship with a PCP.
Having an open dialog with your primary care physician about your concerns is important to maintain the best quality of life possible. Be honest with your primary care physician if you are experiencing any of the following issues:
- Difficulty managing stress
- Depression or anxiety
- Trouble sleeping
- Pain or other troublesome symptoms
- Sexual performance issues
- Side effects from your medication
- Issues with addiction
At the Men’s Wellness Clinic, we understand how to treat these concerns in men of all ages. We’re here to provide the answers you need so you can start feeling better faster.
It’s complicated, but we believe there are many reasons for this. One is that men are less likely to receive preventive care than women are. They also tend to live less healthy lifestyles and work in more dangerous professions. At the Men’s Wellness Clinic, we understand the special challenges that men face and strive to provide care that helps men maintain active, fulfilling lives for as long as possible.
Men of African ancestry face even more health challenges than their white peers. Compared with white men, they have a higher risk for developing many conditions, including cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure and stroke. Fortunately, early detection and preventive care may be able to help men of African ancestry address these higher risks.
Not all men will have the same symptoms of depression. But some of the signs include the following:
- Anger or irritability
- Loss of interest in work, family or hobbies
- Low libido or issues with sexual performance
- Difficulty concentrating
- Changes in sleep habits
- Changes in eating habits
- Drinking too much alcohol or using drugs
- Withdrawing from family and friends
If you think you might be depressed, our primary care physicians can provide the respectful, supportive care that’s needed.
