Valet Services Attendant Has a Personal Mission to Create “Magical” Moments for Patients and Visitors

Valet services attendant Carlos Paniagua has a personal mission to create “magical” moments for UChicago Medicine patients and visitors. You’ll find Paniagua working in the busy parking circle at Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM).

He is known for greeting visitors with a smile, learning (and remembering) patients’ names, sweeping the entrance area, and of course, helping patients and their families get to their appointments quickly and conveniently.

“I really can’t describe it,” said Luis Diego Saborio, parking operations manager. “You have to see if for yourself. The interaction between Carlos and the people he meets every day – it’s magical.”

Senior parking operations manager Jeramy Ortiz agreed: “Carlos cares. He connects with patients and can make a person or family feel like they are the only ones in the drive.”

Paniagua’s service skills come naturally to him. “I feel great when I help people,” he said. “It's in my blood. I am glad when someone says, ‘thank you.’ It pushes me to keep going.” Thank you, Carlos!
