Chicago Blackhawks assistant coach Denis Savard, team mascot Tommy Hawk to visit pediatric patients

Chicago Blackhawks assistant coach and member of the Hockey Hall of Fame Denis Savard and team mascot Tommy Blackhawk will visit patients and families at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital.

What

Savard and Tommy Hawk's trip is part of a League-wide 2005 Hockey Fights Cancer initiative aligned with CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation and Childhood Cancer Foundation Canada, partner organizations devoted to treating and curing pediatric cancer.

Savard and Tommy Hawk will be handing out green "Reach the Day" wristbands to patients and their families. The wristbands were created by CureSearch to provide a symbol of hope to children and their families and to serve as a reminder that a cure for childhood cancer is within reach.

Hockey Fights Cancer is a joint initiative of the National Hockey League and the NHL Players' Association dedicated to raising awareness and funds for cancer research and childhood cancer hospitals.
