A medical oncologist, Jason Luke, MD, FACP, cares for patients with melanoma and advanced solid tumors. In the context of a multidisciplinary team of doctors and nurses, Dr. Luke works to bring a personalized approach to each patient through a comprehensive, compassionate and individualized care plan that is at the forefront of medicine. 
  
Dr. Luke's research focuses on translational therapeutic advances for melanoma and early phase drug development, particularly immunotherapy. He leads a large team pursuing clinical trials of immunotherapy and targeted molecular therapies for melanoma and advanced cancers.  Dr. Luke specifically has an interest in rare forms of melanoma including uveal (ocular), mucosal and others. A national leader in these areas, Dr. Luke sits on the Melanoma Committee of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and the Developmental Therapeutics Committee of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. 
  
Prior to coming to the University of Chicago, Dr. Luke was an Instructor in Medicine at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Luke joins other interested investigators at the University of Chicago Medicine in creating a comprehensive research program for melanoma and immunotherapeutics for cancer.
  
Dr. Luke has received advanced training in oncology drug development as a visiting physician at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and has served on the melanoma science and education program committees for the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Dr. Luke has received several awards for his research, including Young Investigator Awards from the Conquer Cancer Foundation of ASCO, the Melanoma Research Alliance and the Cancer Research Foundation.  Additionally, Dr. Luke received an ASCO Merit Award and a Paul Calabresi Career Development in Clinical Oncology Award (K12) and a Career Development Award from the Department of Defense. His research has been supported by ASCO, the NCI and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
