Hilary Jericho, MD, is a pediatric gastroenterologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive and liver diseases in children. She has a particular interest in celiac disease, functional abdominal pain, cholestatic liver disease and nutrition.

Her interest in pediatrics and style of working directly with her young patients started during medical school. She founded Fast Food Facts, a youth nutrition program to help

increase children’s awareness of exercise, the body and healthy food choices at home and when visiting fast food restaurants. This program is a predecessor to the current posting of fast food nutritional information.

Dr. Jericho founded the video capsule endoscopy program at the hospital and is routinely called upon to consult other hospitals initiating this program. She is also specialized in clinical hypnotherapy which she offers as an alternative treatment for functional abdominal pain. As part of the hospital’s medical informatics and electronic medical records team, Dr. Jericho leverages technology to maximize patient care and provide a high degree of efficiency in her clinics. Dr. Jericho is also passionate about helping children suffering from constipation.

Dr. Jericho’s clinical work and research have focused on a combination of cholestatic liver disease, nutrition, functional gastrointestinal disorders and celiac disease, for which she has produced dozens of publications, peer-reviewed articles, and presentations.

At every level of her academic and professional career, Dr. Jericho is the recipient of a number of awards, including the 2003 American Medical Student Association National Jumpstart Grant, the 2010 Clinical Departments of Children’s Memorial Hospital and Children’s Memorial Research Center Tuition Scholarship, and the UChicago Medicine Pediatric Faculty Scholar Program.
