If your child is experiencing any type of medical emergency, which warrants immediate attention, (example: a seizure longer than five minutes) please bring your child to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

Non-Urgent Medical Questions

Contact our team with non-urgent questions about your child's care and follow-up, including prescription refills.

For non-urgent medical questions and concerns please call your child's nurse or 773-702-6487 and they will connect you to the appropriate team member.

  • Abby Cusack: 773-834-3456
  • Jackie Miller: 773-834-8965
  • Deborah Ruckman: 773-834-1927

Your child's nurse will connect you to the appropriate team member. If you have a medical question in the evening and cannot reach your nurse, you may call the pediatric neurology fellow on-call at 773-702-6800.

Depending on the type of test, it will take two to four weeks for our office to obtain your results. If you have not received results and four weeks have passed since you have had your tests, please call our office at 773-702-1000, ask for ext. 5-6655.

You can request a refill by phone, but please do not wait until you have completely run out of your child's prescription.

You may call in a request for a prescription refill if it has been less than six months since your child's last physician visit. If it has been longer than six months since the last appointment, your child's physician and nurse will review your request on a case-by-case basis.

Please have the following information ready when you call 773-702-1000 and ask for ext. 5-1512:

  • Child’s name
  • Medication name and current dose
  • Child’s date of birth
  • Physician name
  • Your pharmacy phone number

Note: Adderall, Concerta, Focalin and Ritalin cannot be refilled by telephone.

We can mail a prescription to you. This will take about four to five days, so please make sure you call us at least four to five days before you run out. These medications cannot be filled in less than 30 days of your last prescription. We will need to know the date of your last prescription along with the previously mentioned information.
Our office will check each prescription and the patient’s record to make sure the prescription is correct. Because the office can be very busy, we need at least 48 hours to fill most prescriptions.
It is essential that patients be seen at least once a year for us to renew prescriptions. In many cases, patients need to be seen more frequently. If your child has not been to our office in more than a year, we may only give you a limited number of prescriptions until your child can be re-evaluated by a physician.
