UChicago Medicine and Ingalls cardiologists and cardiac surgeons recognized among the region’s best

Center for Care and Discovery

A total of 15 physicians at the University of Chicago Medicine, which includes Ingalls Memorial, have been named to Chicago magazine’s 2018 list of ”Top Cardiologists.”

This special edition of the publication’s annual “Top Docs” list was based on a nomination survey, research, screening and a rigorous selection process conducted under the direction of research company Castle Connolly Medical. Honorees are selected by a physician-led team of researchers who consider doctors on a national and regional level.

In addition to being an honoree, UChicago Medicine interventional cardiologist Atman P. Shah, MD, was highlighted for his humanitarian work in Jordan where he performed 15 heart procedures on average per day on Syrian refugees.

“We are pleased to have our leading-edge heart care recognized by Chicago magazine,” said Stephen Weber, MD, chief medical officer for UChicago Medicine. “The accolade is not just a reflection of the 15 honorees, but also of their teams and the many other world-class heart and vascular physicians at UChicago Medicine with whom they collaborate to deliver exceptional patient care.”
