Edith J. Chernoff, MD, specializes in the treatment of genetic disorders in children of all ages into adulthood. Dr. Chernoff sees patients in the pediatric medical genetics clinic and on the in patient wards, providing genetics consultation services and ongoing management for patients with a wide range of genetic conditions. As the primary focus of her clinical practice, Dr. Chernoff monitors and provides coordinated care for children with chromosomal abnormalities and genetic syndromes, and has extensive experience with Down syndrome and trisomy 18.
In addition to her genetics clinic, Dr. Chernoff also has experience in treating children with chronic conditions, including developmental disorders and neurodiversity, and she is exploring the genetic causes for these conditions.
As a physician-scientist, Dr. Chernoff has completed research in genetic bone disorders, and is interested in investigating osteogenesis imperfecta and skeletal dysplasias. Her expertise allows her to interpret abnormal genetic testing and provide genetic counseling to patients and their families.
Along with her commitment to her patients, Dr. Chernoff is active in training medical students and pediatric residents as they progress in their medical careers, and is hoping to expand this role as a clinical geneticist.
